The Raelian religion was started in 1973 by former French journalist Claude Vorilhon. Vorilhon says he met with extraterrestrials who called themselves Elohim, a Hebrew word referring to God.The Elohim told him they created the human race in a lab 25,000 years ago. They told Vorilhon that he was sent to Earth to prepare the human race for their second coming, a time when they will meet with the leaders of the World in an embassy in Jerusalem. Vorilhon changed his name to Rael, Hebrew for messanger. Currently he lives in Quebec where he has created a theme park called UFO Land.
