CANICA helps children in Oaxaca, Mexico who have suffered from domestic abuse. Surviving solely on private donations the child welfare organization gives children a safe and nurturing home to live for two-years at Casa de CANICA. In Oaxaca there are no similar Government organizations which exist to help children of domestic violence.
For some of the children Casa de CANICA is the first home where they can live without the threat of violence. The house provides a structured loving environment for counseling, schooling, and healing. During the time when the children live at Casa de CANICA the organization counsels both the children and their families to improve the family life for when the children eventually moves back home.
